How accurate are these tide times?
These are tide predictions, worked out from the movement of the moon and sun
So they are calculated years in advance rather than measured on the day. Llandudno has its own Environment Agency tide gauge, and every month we compare our predictions against it directly. The match stays over 98%. Times match to within about 10 minutes and heights to within about 15 cm.
Not for navigation
These times are a guide for planning a day out, a coastal walk or a photo. They are not for navigation or anything where an exact tide height matters, and weather can push the real sea level above or below any prediction. For navigation, use official Admiralty sources.

About Llandudno tides
Llandudno sits between the Great Orme and Little Orme, with its North Shore beach facing straight up Liverpool Bay. The tidal range here is one of the largest in the UK — up to about 7 metres on spring tides — because the funnelling shape of Liverpool Bay amplifies the incoming tide. Two high waters and two low waters each day, roughly 12 hours 25 minutes apart.
Llandudno tides — FAQ
Why is the tidal range at Llandudno so large?
Liverpool Bay funnels the incoming tide into a narrower channel, which pushes the water higher. Spring tides here can reach around 7 metres of range — much more than the open coast.
How many tides does Llandudno get each day?
Two high tides and two low tides every 24 hours or so, about 6 hours 12 minutes apart. The times shift forward by roughly 50 minutes each day.
Are these times in GMT or BST?
All Llandudno tide times on this page are shown in UK local time — GMT in winter, BST in summer.
Is it safe to walk out on Llandudno's beach at low tide?
Generally yes on West Shore and North Shore, but the tide comes in fast because of the large range. Keep an eye on the time of the next high water shown above and don't cut it fine.
